Sacramento, CA — Nossaman LLP has expanded its Litigation Practice Group in its Sacramento office with the addition of seasoned bankruptcy attorney Chris Hughes, who joins the Firm as a Partner.

Chris’ practice focuses on representing bankruptcy trustees and creditors in a wide range of bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters, including objections to claims, assumption or rejection of executory contracts and leases, objections to exemptions, denials of discharge, objections to the dischargeability of debts, lien priority disputes and relief from the automatic stay. He has extensive experience litigating fraudulent transfer and preferences actions, and has litigated numerous complex matters including securities fraud, embezzlement, Ponzi schemes, contract disputes and challenges to corporate formations and retirement plans.

"Chris’ skillset and industry contacts will enhance our already strong litigation and bankruptcy practices," said David Graeler, the Chair of Nossaman’s Litigation Practice Group. "We are excited he is joining the Firm."

Nossaman's Litigation Practice Group serves both the public and private sectors, and it has earned a strong reputation for its team of extraordinary trial attorneys and the tremendous successes they have achieved on behalf of clients in high stakes litigation. The Litigation Practice’s Bankruptcy, Reorganization and Creditor Rights Group is involved in many of the most complex bankruptcy matters nationally and is at the forefront of bankruptcy law, representing the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in multiple bank holding company bankruptcy proceedings.

"Nossaman is an ideal fit for my practice," said Chris. "It has a nationally recognized litigation practice with a very strong bankruptcy element. I look forward to working alongside such a talented group of attorneys, and helping them better serve their clients."

Chris is a member for the California State Bar, and holds a J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law and a B.A. from the University of California, Davis.
