The article discusses how the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) could see a boost if new draft legislation gets through Congress. The two proposed pieces of draft legislation—the America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2020 (AIWA 2020) and the Drinking Water Infrastructure Act of 2020—would require potential WIFIA loan recipients to obtain one final rating letter of opinion, rather than the two letters currently required. The draft legislation also proposes a process where the US Army Corps of Engineers would develop a list of projects that could be funded through the Congressional approval process.

Commenting on what projects could be impacted by the draft legislation, Elizabeth said that the development “along with recent stimulus legislation may spur projects in the medium to long term.”
