Nossaman Partner and Infrastructure Practice Group Chair, Geoffrey S. Yarema, was quoted in the ENR article "Experts: Switch Transportation Funding Away from Gas Tax" as saying "We were charged with projecting the needs of surface transportation over the long term, how much money goes into the trust fund under the current policy and finally, what should Congress consider doing to replace the gas tax. We have completed that task...it was unanimous." The article highlights the Commission's recommendations to shift away from the gas tax to a mileage charge, provide incentives for tolling and increase the gas tax in the short term.
