Ilse Scott Comments on Trade Secrets Theft Claim Dismissal

Ilse Scott was quoted in a Daily Journal article, “Judge dismisses trade secrets theft claim against city of Oakland” (subscription required). Ilse and fellow Nossaman partner, David Lee, were on the defense team that persuaded a federal judge to dismiss a suit against the city of Oakland for allegedly misappropriating proprietary information from a former software vendor to use a competitor’s tax billing and collection system.

“They had to prove that they actually own a protectable trade secret,” said Ilse. “In our case, they couldn’t meet that standard.
