09.15.2018
Olympic Valley, CA
8:00 - 9:00 a.m.

Carl Blumenstein and Amber Maltbie presented "Ethical Pitfalls for Counsel on the Campaign Trail" during the Annual California Political Attorneys Association (CPAA) Retreat on September 15, 2018 in Olympic Valley, CA.

They focused their presentation on the key ethical issues faced by campaign counsel that arise in the unique, fast-paced environment of campaigns and elections. The presentation incorporated the new Rules of Professional Conduct that had been proposed by the State Bar, and which went into effect on November 1, 2018. During the course of their presentation, they explained key elements of the new rule, including how to identify the client, what the scope of representation should be, and how to protect attorney-client privilege.
