On October 23rd, Bill Powers presented “Politics at the Water Cooler: What’s NSFW?” at the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) 2019 Legal & Regulatory Conference in Portland, Oregon. In this 60-minute session, Bill discussed the basic dos and don’ts for handling politics in the workplace. He also covered the type of political speech and activities that different organizations can engage in, as well as what political activities can employees engage in during work (and non-work) hours, and how employers can limit it.

This conference allowed attendees in the energy and regulatory sector to keep up with the latest in cybersecurity compliance, distributed energy laws, environmental regulations, ethics and trust issues, and transmission cost concerns. The American Public Power Association is the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power 2,000 towns and cities nationwide.
