On February 1, 2024, Steve Silva discussed the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Tyler v. Hennepin County during Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation 2024 hosted by American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI CLE).

The presentation included a discussion of the Tyler case, in which Minnesota’s process for foreclosing tax liens and retaining all proceeds of the tax sale was successful challenged as violating the Takings Clause. Steve and his fellow panelists gave a brief summary of takings implications caused by government foreclosure of property and discussed the Court’s apparent evolution on assessing how to approach recognizing property rights.
