Nossaman News Release

Los Angeles, CA – We are pleased to announce Sara Johnson has joined our Environment & Land Use Group as a partner in the Los Angeles office. She joins from Hirschler Law.

Sara maintains an active government affairs practice representing a national and California trade association on federal and state environmental policy and legislative positions, particularly with regards to the private sector restoration and mitigation industry. In this capacity, she advises on strategic federal agency and Congressional campaigns, pending legislation and policy priorities. Her environmental clients benefit from her prior experience with the Environmental Compliance office of a U.S. Naval Air Station and as a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division, where she gained a working knowledge of the diverse regulatory landscape and complex environmental statutes.

“Sara’s deep, yet nuanced, experience on both the public and private sides of environmental law will be very beneficial to our clients,” said Ben Rubin, chair of the Environment & Land Use Group. “We are excited to work with her and are happy she has joined the Firm.”

Nossaman’s Environment & Land Use Group thrives at the intersection of law, policy, engineering and science. We guide clients through complex challenges to cost-effective solutions by providing tailored counsel on endangered species, energy and renewables, natural resources and land use involving multimillion-dollar developments and large, public infrastructure projects. As a result, public agencies, private corporations, trade associations and non-profits from coast to coast trust us with their environment and land use, endangered species and natural resource law challenges.

Commenting on why she joined Nossaman, Sara said, “Nossaman’s environmental practice is recognized as a market leader in the industry and its national platform will serve my clients well.” She added she “looks forward to helping the practice expand its offerings, particularly with my expertise in environmental markets, and leveraging my skills to help clients meet their environment and land use needs.”

Sara holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, a B.A. from the University of Richmond and is admitted to practice in California and Virginia. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the Government Relations and Real Estate categories and serves as the Executive Director for the Ecological Restoration Business Association and the California Ecological Restoration Business Association.
