Nossaman Once Again Recognized for Infrastructure, Environment, Renewable Energy and Eminent Domain Work

Nossaman was recognized by The Legal 500 in four practice categories for 2025, including “Energy: Renewable/Alternative Power,” “Environment: Litigation,” “Land Use/Zoning” and “Project Finance.”

Energy: Renewable/Alternative Power: Nossaman is highlighted for fielding a team which provides clients with a “robust offering that includes advice on transactions, disputes and regulatory matters, and represents notable names from the renewable and alternative energy sector.” Accolades are given to Svend Brandt-Erichsen for his work “leading the department and specializing in environmental matters, regularly advising clients before the federal and state courts in relation to acquiring, approving and appealing federal wildlife permits, alongside litigation, compliance and regulatory advice.” Brooke Marcus, Rebecca Hays Barho, Paul Weiland and Brian Ferrasi-O’Malley are also noted.

Environment: Litigation: Nossaman is noted for specializing in “resource protection, development and conservation for public and private clients.” The publication goes on to highlight the role of Environment & Land Use Group chair Ben Rubin, whom it states, “advises developers, public agencies and corporate clients on complex environmental and land use matters,” and Water Group chair Alfred Smith, whom it says, “is a leading expert in water law and environmental litigation.” Additionally, the publication commends Paul Weiland for playing “a key role in the firm’s work, and being recognized for his expertise in wildlife permitting and litigation, including cases involving species like the delta smelt, Hawaiian hoary bat and North Atlantic right whale.”

Land Use/Zoning: The Legal 500 highlighted our team “assists its clients with the full life of a project from securing initial entitlements and approvals to associated litigation.” Brad Kuhn – chair of our Eminent Domain & Inverse Condemnation Group – is ranked as a “Leading Lawyer” in the category and noted for his work “advising public agencies and owners on the land use and zoning aspects of their proposed developments, including transportation, telecommunications and energy and gas projects.” David Graeler is called an “experienced litigator who represents public and private real estate sector clients.” 

Project Finance: Our Infrastructure Group is recognized for leading “projects at each stage of development and implementation across the U.S. [including] major transport infrastructure projects…including airport developments, highways and bridge constructions.” Elizabeth Cousins is noted for “leading the department, which is a popular choice for state agencies looking for extensive financing, procurement and development expertise.” Corey Boock is highlighted for his “three decades of experience acting for private sponsors, contractors and numerous regional and local transport agencies.” Yukiko Kojima is lauded for advising “public agencies in the use of methods such as P3 and design-build, and being well versed in projects based in the US and Canada.” Andrée Blais is noted for her “procurement and contracting focus.” Additionally, Shant Boyajian and Ann-Therese Schmidare called “notable practitioners.”
