We have developed one of the most comprehensive coastal zone legal practices in California. We have advised and represented both private and public agency clients on projects and issues before the California Coastal Commission since the passage of the Coastal Zone Initiative (Proposition 20) in 1972 and the California Coastal Act in 1976. Our Coastal Development team members include a former California Coastal Commission Chair. Clients turn to us to help them identify and implement both legal and political strategies for obtaining approval of Local Coastal Plan and Coastal Land Use Plan Amendments, Coastal Development Permits and Coastal Zone Management Certifications. We also serve as go-to counsel for coastal clients facing enforcement actions. Our wealth of experience extends to trial and appellate courts in both the state and federal systems. We have successfully defended challenges to Commission approvals and challenged overreaching project conditions.
